Modern Pick Entertainment has revealed plans to acquire a “substantial” number of shares in British developer Slightly Mad Studios.
The studio is behind the Project Cars franchise and throughout its lifetime has sold more than 25 million games to date.
Modern Pick also noted Slightly Mad’s esports gaming tech, Madness game engine and position in non-violent esports as reasons for the move.
“This is a fantastic achievement for us,” said Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell.
“This will bring about new opportunities and new ideas. We are excited about the future.”
Modern Pick CEO Denis Gamobramov added: “Slightly Mad Studios fits perfectly with our mission to create and develop truly competitive, highly-emotional non-violent esport game.
“Our recent joint venture with the market leader in esports – ESForce, together with Mail.ru, aids our vision to become a global market leader in gaming.”
Slightly Mad Studios revealed it was developing a console back in January, however since the announcement the studio has had walked into a few issues with its plans after investors withdrew backing following the unveiling of Google’s streaming platform Stadia.
