The Epic Games Store is now trialling cloud saves, after having pushed the feature back several months ago.
CEO of the company, Tim Sweeney, confirmed the trial when questioned on Twitter. However, he did state that the integration of cloud saves on the Epic Games Store is a work in progress, with only a couple of games currently using the feature.
This War of Mine and Moonlighter, the free titles as part of Epic's free weekly games offering, allow players to save game progress to the cloud.
When questioned further Sweeney stated that it is a manual process, the store team would need to go through the process for each game. Though developers aren’t usually required to update its games in order for cloud saves to be used.
Originally delayed
According to Epic's road map, the feature was supposed to launch in May however it was delayed alongside several other features.
“Cloud saves are enabled for a couple of new games right now. We have a bit more work to do before rolling it out more widely,” said Tim Sweeney on Twitter.
