Epic Games Store PC consumer spending hit $950m in 2023

PC gamers spent a massive $950 million on the Epic Games Store during 2023.

That's according to the company's annual review blog post, in which it reported a 16 per cent increase on the $820 million that PC consumers spent the previous year.

Epic did report a 13 per cent decline in the amount of spending on third-party titles on its storefront; these titles brought in $310 million. Related to this is both Fortnite Battle Royale and Rocket League were in the Top Five titles based on both player spend and engagement. Other titles at the top were Genshin Impact, Dead Island 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5.

There are now 804 million Epic Games cross-platform accounts, a 10.8 per cent increase on 2022's "nearly 725 million". Monthly active users for December were also up, rising 10 per cent from 68 million to 75 million.

"Whether you’ve been with us since 2018, or just recently joined the Epic Games Store — thank you so much for being here," the company wrote.

"We’re humbled by the continued support of our players, and can’t wait to introduce a whole slate of exciting games and experiences from our talented development and publishing partners in 2024."
