Valve’s got a new project called Citadel in the works.
According to a video from Tyler McVicker of Valve News Network (below) Citadel is a separate Source 2 project, alongside other games using the engine like Dota 2 and Half-Life VR, as well as Left 4 Dead 3 which is reportedly in development.
There is no confirmation on what it may be, though elements that point towards first-person stealth, a top-view minimap and AI pathfinding have been found. McVicker claims Citadel is not the VR title teased by Valve earlier this year.
Valve started making games again with Artifact which launched in November 2018. Despite seeing initial success Valve’s title saw a considerable drop off in its player base.
Valve's new project may be another Half-Life game, but McVicker points out there is no confirmation that this is the case.
“Upon further investigation Citadel is actually an entirely different Source 2 project. The only other Source 2 projects are Dota 2, HLVR and Left 4 Dead 3,” said McVicker
"What exactly is this game? No idea, there is no real information to go off of. The only strings we have in relation to Citadel have to do with AI bot navigation, stealth and a top-down minimap."
