Bad North headlines First on Discord’s first seven indie titles

Chat service Discord has revealed seven games that will launch on its new store exclusively for a limited period of "typically" 90 days.

These titles form the first wave of the company's 'First on Discord' initiative. Releases include Raw Fury’s Nintendo Switch strategy title Bad North, making its PC debut on the communication platform.

The list also includes asymmetrical survival-horror Last Year: The Nightmare; top-down multiplayer shooter At Sundown; cap-crushing couch brawler King of the Hat; self-sacrificing boss battler Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption; Rocket League-meets-third-person-brawler Mad Machines; and card co-op RTS Minion Masters.

"For our store, we’re excited to announce we’ll be supporting “First on Discord” titles - indie games that we’ve helped bring to life," read blog post from the Discord team.

"Supporting indie games pushes the boundary of creative game design and is important to innovation and the long-term health of the industry.

"Of course, we think the games are really cool too!"

Discord is now used by over 150 million gamers. With such a large audience, it’s become a go-to place for building a community and marketing smaller indie titles.

Embedded as it is in modern games culture, our own Craig Chapple looked at how Discord has the clout to become a real threat to Steam’s PC gaming monopoly.
