Valve might be bringing Windows emulation to SteamOS

It looks like Windows emulation could be coming to its Linux SteamOS operating system.

That's going by Reddit users who have noticed that Steam's graphical settings make reference to new features in Steam Play which let games built for non-SteamOS operating systems.

This would certainly give more reasons to use SteamOS. As it stands, Linux ports of games are a real afterthought. Being able to ship one build of your game that'll work across multiple operating systems would make life easier for many studios.

Of course, emulation of this manner won't necessarily mean the best performance. It's also not clear whether this functionality is even going to come out and if it does, when.
