Audio chat platform Discord is rolling out video and screen sharing features.
Announced via a post on Medium, the firm has announced it is testing these new features with five per cent of Discord’s audience. The company says that a full roll-out is at least a month away.
The firm explains that this test is due to the fact that video data is more intensive to transfer than audio. Furthermore, this feature can be turned off it gamers don’t fancy using the video chat.
With both video chat and screen sharing, ten users can be in the conversation at the same time. Discord says these are features that have been greatly requested by the community
Discord started life in March 2015 and in May 2017 reported that it had 45m users. The firm is also said to be valued at $725 million following a $50m funding round at the start of 2017.
