Left 4 Dead dev Turtle Rock working on new entry in "globally known franchise"

Turtle Rock, the studio behind Left 4 Dead and Evolve is hiring for a brand new project.

The outfit's next game is going to be a new entry in a "globally known franchise" - as per a job ad spotted by users on Resetera. Additionally, the game is going to be a first-person shooter of triple-A quality, and appears to be built in Unreal Engine 4. Other requirements include making "awesome level layouts and designing fun encounters".

It's unclear who the publisher on this title is or what franchise the advert refers to.

Previously, Turtle Rock was working on a new game set in an "all-new universe" - that project appears to have been dropped after being accidentally outed in 2016.

Though best known for the Left 4 Dead games, Turtle Rock's more recently history is slightly less pretty. The firm released Evolve for 2K in 2015, a title that seemed to hold a lot of promise with its four versus one gameplay. Reviews were positive, but the player base seemed to evaporate shortly after. Last year, the title went free-to-play and earlier this year it was announced the project had been canned.

Hopefully, the California-based developer has better luck this time around. Being a known IP will certainly help out with any new venture it is trying out.
