Sharkmob is making layoffs

Malmo-based Sharkmob is making job cuts.

GI.biz reports that the Tencent-owned studio is making "planned changes to its organisational structure", which were due to "a challenging environment for game developers". Sharkmob described these layoffs as "difficult but necessary steps" adding that they would "sharpen our focus and align our efforts on the continued development of Exoborne and position us for sustainable growth".

This comes as Sharkmob is working on its sci-fi extraction shooter Exoborne which currently has no release date but recently had a public playtest.

The company also closed its London studio in 2024.
