Japanese RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio has sold over two million copies to date.
That's according to developer and publisher Atlus, which revealed the news on Twitter nine months after the game's initial release.
The last official sales count for Metaphor: ReFantazio was the one million units the RPG shifted in its first day in the wild, meaning that the game has taken nine months to double its sales.
Compared to similar games, 2019's Persona 5 Royale has shifted over 7.25 million copies, while Persona 3 Reload has sold over two million units since its February 2024 release. Both titles are part of an established franchise though so will naturally bring in a larger audience.
"Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us," Atlus character designer Shigenori Soejima said, discussing Metaphor: ReFantazio hitting two million sales.
When it debuted in October 2024, the title was the third highest-grossing game on Steam during its launch week.
