Roblox paid out $741m to developers in 2023

Games platform Roblox claims it paid out $741 million to creators last year.

That's according to a company filingspotted by Bloomberg – in which it reports that it gave developers $740.8 million. Roblox says that this is a 19 per cent increase on the $623.9 million that creators received in 2022.

Around one hundred games made $1 million, while nine brought in over $10 million. More than 12,000 creators cashed in their Robux, the in-game currency that players can pay with. Around 3,500 made $10,000 and about 750 walked away with $100,000.

"The increase is primarily driven by an increase in amounts earned by developers and creators due to the growth in bookings over the same period," Roblox wrote in its financial statement.

Five million developers earned Robux in 2023, but only 16,500 could cash out as they were registered with the Developer Exchange Program. The highest portion of spending was done during Q4 when $221.8 million was exchanged.
