Tate Multimedia moves into third-party publishing

Kao the Kangaroo maker Tate Multimedia is expanding into third-party publishing.

The Polish company, which had previously been self-publishing games, is now offering a variety of services to other developers, such as financing, consulting, sales and promotional assistance. The company says that the IP will stay with whoever the studio is, even if Tate is providing 100 per cent of financing. The firm is also going to be sharing revenue from day one.

“We know the ups and downs and understand the challenges on both sides of the developer-publisher relationship,” Tate VP Paul Leskowicz said.

“This makes working with third parties the logical next step, and we are excited to share our expertise with studios in the months and years to come. We know how important both retaining ownership of an IP and cash flow is for an indie studio and we want to make sure our collaborative approach and financial commitment give clear visibility and comfort to our partners in that regard.”

Tate Multimedia was founded back in 2000.
