Kojima Productions' Death Stranding has sold over five million copies between its launch in November 2019 and March of this year.
That's according to the company's head of publishing Jay Boor – speaking to GamesIndustry.biz – who says that the title has hit this milestone across its PlayStation 4 and PC releases. Death Stranding made its debut on Sony's console in November 2019 before coming to PC via 505 Games in July 2020.
There's no breakdown as to what the divide is between console and PC sales for Death Stranding, though 505 parent company Digital Bros reported $27.6 million in revenue for the PC edition as of December 2020. Absolutely rough napkin maths pegs this as in the vague region of 600k units sold on PC between July and December of last year.
"With Death Stranding being the first title developed out of Kojima Productions, from a sales perspective, it has performed quite well," Boor explained.
"As of March 2021, Death Stranding has sold through over five million units worldwide on PlayStation 4 and PC."
This comes ahead of the launch of Death Stranding: Director's Cut, which Sony recently announced for its PlayStation 5 console.
There are reports that Kojima Productions' next game could be published by Xbox.
