Flamebait Games paints a masterpiece and takes home the Big Indie Pitch crown with Passpartout 2

Flamebait Games paints a masterpiece and takes home the Big Indie Pitch crown with Passpartout 2

It feels like an age since we began hosting digital pitches in response to the global situation.

However, despite the circumstances that necessitated this move, our digital pitches have only gone from strength to strength. Allowing us to host an ever-increasing range of diverse brand new gaming experiences from some of the world's most exciting indie developers.

Most recently, due in part to overwhelming demand for our other digital pitches, that meant hosting our next standalone PC+Console Big Indie Pitch of 2021 sponsored by our season sponsors Kwalee.

In fact, this time around we saw even more exciting and interesting indie developers pitch their latest works to some of our most established judges and journalists, with 11 battling it out for the crown. As always, the competition was extremely tough, and we even had a three-way tie break for third place. Nevertheless, the judges did, as they always do, settle on the top games from the pitch, with the winner gaining votes from every single judge. That winner was Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist, a game in which you take on the role of a struggling artist, as you try to draw and sell masterpieces on the go whilst exploring a gorgeous puppet world.

All the madness from our last Digital Big Indie Pitch

For those not in the know, The Big Indie Pitch is a regular event run by the makers of PCGamesInsider.biz. It gives indie developers the chance to pitch their games to industry experts and journalists in a speed-dating-style format. Teams get the opportunity to get valuable feedback on their games, as well as win great prizes such as promotional packages and opportunities to promote their game.

Of course, Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist, as you already know, was the winner, but if you want to learn more about not only Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist but also our runners-up from The Digital Big Indie Pitch (PC+Console Edition) #8, then simply read on.

1st Place - Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist by Flamebait Games

In Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist players must draw and sell their own hastily made masterpieces in order to help a burnt-out artist reclaim their former fame, glory, and most importantly, self-worth. A place in the Museum of the Masters awaits those worthy, but as with all good adventures in self-exploration, much of the charm and joy lies in the world and people you meet along the way. Of course, these are two things that Passpartout 2: The Lost Artist has in droves, thanks to its wonderfully charming puppet world and eccentric cast of characters.

The original game, Passpartout: The Starving Artist was developed by a team of university students on a small budget in their spare time, and now following the release of two subsequent games, the growing Flamebait Games hopes to make Passpartout's return bigger, better and more beautiful. Just remember though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

2nd Place - Harmony's Odyssey by MythicOwl

Harmony's Adventure is a wonderfully endearing 3D adventure puzzler. Set in both the mythical and the modern worlds, players will be able to ser of an adventurous odyssey across a variety of wonderfully charming and adorable miniature dioramas. Unfortunately, these dioramas, and the equally fascinating inhabitants and creatures that live within them, have become all jumbled up. As such, it's up to you to put them back together and work out the mystery of just what is going on.

To do so, MythicOwl have created a jigsaw inspired puzzle game in which players must think carefully about how to manipulate the tile-based riddles. One which is both new and unique, whilst also being accessible to all players. On top of this, the game also promises a range of mini-games and an engaging story to accompany the lovable miniature world in which the game takes place within.

3rd Place - Terratorial by Arrogant Pixel

Terratorial is a fast and frantic real-time strategy title, one which focuses on a brand new theft based mechanic. We can't reveal much at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled for more information in the future.

Honourable Mentions

Of course, as mentioned, 2 games only just missed out on the third place, and as such, so that everyone can check out these amazing games too, we've added trailers for both of our honourable mentions below.
