Twitch is launching a dedicated esports channel

Streaming giant Twitch has created a new channel dedicated to esports and competitive gaming.

As revealed in an announcement, this new portal, dubbed the Esports Directory, will host all competitive streams from a wide variety of games such as League of Legends and NBA 2K. Furthermore, it offers fans to catch up on matches they missed.

As all esports channels will be in one place, it makes it easier for viewers to discover new creators.

"The Esports Directory will be populated with the most competitive and premier esports events around the world, like ESL Katowice, Rocket League Championships Series, Twitch Rivals, and the League of Legends World Championship to name a few," said the Amazon-owned streaming platform.

"We'll continue to add more events, channels, and pros to keep the content fresh and make sure we're including all of the players and games the community cares about most."

Twitch continued: "Esports continues to thrive in large part because of the enthusiasm, engagement, and feedback from esports fans on Twitch, and the Esports Directory is part of our commitment to making sure Twitch remains the best place to watch.

"We're just getting started, and can't wait for what's to come."

Earlier this month, it was revealed that Twitch viewership was up 23 per cent in March. Likely due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
