Terraria has sold 30m copies globally

Sandbox title Terraria has sold 30 million copies worldwide.

As revealed on its website forum, the majority units were shifted on PC with 14 million. Mobile proved to be the second-most-popular platform with 8.7 million downloads while console had the lowest with 7.6 million copies.

"What is even more crazy is that the momentum behind our game remains as strong as it has ever been - even in advance of Journey's End arriving soon, which is sure to blow the lid off once again," said forum administrator Loki.

"To say that this floors all of us in regards to the sheer level of support and love you have shown us over the years is a massive understatement. We can only hope to return the favor by continuing to provide amazing gaming experiences for years to come."

The team behind the game expect this number to further increase when the Journey's End update drops.

As a way to celebrate, the construction game is 50 per cent off to encourage those who haven't given it a try to see why it has hit the impressive milestone. The game hit 20 million copies sold in 2017.
