Xbox Game Studios upcoming title Gears Tactics will be single-player only and will not feature microtransactions.
As revealed on Twitter (below), Rod Fergusson - the studio head of The Coalition - confirmed that all in-game extras and cosmetics must be earned through playing the title.
All games in the Gears series have featured multiplayer options, the new title will be the first to only offer a single-player experience.
Gears Tactics was first announced at E3 2018, a new trailer was revealed at The Game Awards 2019 as well as a release date - April 28th 2020.
The game is a spin to the main Gears of War series and is a turn-based tactical shooter - it will be on both PC and Xbox One, as well as part of Game Pass.
The franchise has continued to sell well, Gears 5 managed to outsell its predecessor despite being part of Game Pass. The latest instalment attracted three million players in its first week.
