Sega's games revenue up eight per cent for first half of 19/20

Japanese publishing giant Sega's games business saw an eight per cent increase year-on-year for the first six months of the 2019/20 fiscal year.

The company has reported that this division brought in ¥115.9bn ($1.07bn) in net sales for the six months ending September 30th, 2019, while operating income for games more than doubled, shooting up by 106.5 per cent year-on-year for the period.

Digital games brought in ¥23.6bn ($218.4m) for the period, a 22 per cent increase on last year's ¥19.3bn ($178.6m) for the first half of the last fiscal year.

Meanwhile, boxed games brought in ¥32.1bn ($297m) for the period, in part due to the company's recently-released Mega Drive Mini console. In all, Sega shifted 11.4m boxes for the period, with 3.6m of those being new releases and the remaining 7.8m coming from back catalogue.
