Over 1.5 million players dived into the one-shot Resident Evil 2 demo

Resident Evil 2’s one-time-only demo has already been played by over 1.5 million players

That figure comes courtesy of the official Resident Evil 2 site, where the ticker sits at 1,592,556 players at time of writing. This figure (below) only accounts for players who have enabled RE NET Play Data settings, meaning the actual figure may sit far higher.

Resident Evil 2, due out on January 25th, was teased last week with a one-shot demo. Players were given a thirty-minute time limit to complete a limited segment of the 1998 remake before access was shut off forever.

Platform distribution is not accounted for. But the completion rate is, showing that only 28 per cent of players across PC, PS4 and Xbox One have completed the demo. It also shows that the game is most popular in East Asia with over 335,000 players, followed by the US with over 346,500.

Resident Evil 2’s demo was a key part in helping push pre-orders for the game near the top of the Steam Top Ten this week.
