Paradox launches anniversary edition of Hearts of Iron IV after title shifts one million copies

An anniversary edition of grand strategy wargame Hearts of Iron 4 has launched after the game sold one million units.

The special edition is on sale now, including the base game with newest DLC. The rest of the game’s content is available in an “anniversary plus” edition.

There’s also a hand-painted diorama, for those lucky enough to have shelf space. The statue depicts an alternate-history end to the war, with the Italian army raising its flag over the ruins of London.

“When we released Hearts of Iron IV we didn’t know it was going to be such a success,” said game director Dan Lind. “We did not dare make a big physical collector’s edition. It feels great to be able to make something like that now. Both as game director and as someone who loves miniatures!”

Mike Horn, CEO of merchandise producers and diorama creator PowerUp Factory added: “We’ve made a lot of interesting collectibles here, but this one’s a first for sure. I lived in the Washington, DC area for many years and saw the real life Iwo Jima statue countless times. To now be able to make a creative interpretation of it? Amazing!”

Lind continues, “You know you have the right job when you can dream up alt-history scenarios for your game and someone makes a big ass amazing statue of it!”.

Hearts of Iron IV launched in June 2016.
