EA vet Henriques joins Klang as co-CEO and COO

German games studio Klang has hired EA veteran Isabelle Henriques as its new co-CEO and chief operating officer.

Henriques joined the company back in February following almost six years at Electronic Arts. During her time at the US publishing giant, she worked on the Madden franchise, before becoming studio director and producer of EA Sports in 2018. Two years later she was promoted to studio director and lead producer for live services at The Sims studios Maxis. Prior to joining EA, she held roles at Activision and Nokia.

Klang is working on the ambitious MMO Seed.

“I am thrilled to be working with Klang Games,” Henriques said.

“Seed is really pushing the boundaries of the gaming industry and I am excited to be a part of it. With this secured funding, our course is set to realize one of the most ambitious game projects I am aware of in the gaming market. Since coming in contact with Klang and Seed, I have been amazed by the quality of the team and the innovative nature of their vision. I cannot wait to be a part of making this unprecedented game a reality.”

This news came alongside word that Klang had raised a Series C round of $41 million. This was led by Animoca Brands and Kingsway Capital, with Anthos, Novator, Supercell, Roosh, AngelHub, and New Life Ventures also taking part.

“This funding not only gives us the security of knowing that we have the resources for years of development, it also shows us that people believe in our vision, which is the best motivation for us,” CEO Mundi Vondi said.

“We are so excited and honoured to get this level of trust from investors. It allows us to steam ahead and really pursue the vision of our wildest dreams! If you are a developer, game designer, or just a super cool person, now is the right time to join us."

This follows a $22.3 million round in 2019.
