Land Above Sea Below crowned Big Indie Pitch winner

Land Above Sea Below crowned Big Indie Pitch winner

We may be back on the road again, but that doesn't mean our digital pitches are going anywhere. In fact, we have a number of them planned for 2022, as our digital pitches have allowed us to highlight an ever-increasing range of diverse brand new gaming experiences from some of the world's most exciting indie developers.

Most recently, we hosted our June Digital Big Indie Pitch (PC+Console Edition) #16, in part due to the overwhelming talent coming from indie developers!

This time, we saw even more exciting and interesting indie developers pitch their latest works to some of our most established judges and journalists, with 13 battling it out for the crown. The competition was incredibly tough, but in the end, the judges were able to narrow it down to a top three and two honourable mentions, with the calm, landscape-building puzzle/strategy game Land Above Sea Below ultimately taking 1st place.

All the madness from our last Digital Big Indie Pitch

The Big Indie Pitch is a regular event run by the makers of PCGamesInsider.biz. It gives indie developers the chance to pitch their games to industry experts and journalists in a speed-dating-style format. Teams get the opportunity to get valuable feedback on their games, as well as win great prizes such as promotional packages and opportunities to promote their game.

Of course, Unpetrified, as you already know, was the winner, but if you want to learn more about not only Land Above Sea Below but also our runners-up and honourable mentions from The Digital Big Indie Pitch (PC+Console Edition) #16, then simply read on.

1st Place - Land Above Sea Below by Glasscannon Studio

Land Above Sea Below takes immerses players within the amazing world of a small island that is experiencing an eternal Autumn and tasks them with growing their island’s territory and height by interlocking tiles in a pattern.

As such, by combining this gameplay with the Autumnal setting, Glasscannon Studio has created a calm and soothing landscape-building puzzle/strategy game. However, make no mistakes, despite this the game promises to offer a deep and rich experience for all players as procedurally generated tiles ensure that every island is unique and each play is challenging in its own way.

2nd Place - Rytmos by Floppy Club

Continuing with the relaxing theme we have Rytmos, a game that challenges players to create music by solving puzzles in an accessible and soothing manner.  To be more specific, players must travel from planet to planet discovering the music hidden inside by creating a path that forms a loop around the planet. As this loop is created and the layers of the musical sequence unfold, the music is slowly revealed.

3rd Place - Candle Knight by Dracma Studios

In this 2.5D action-adventure game players step into the show of the eponymous Candle Knight and explore an abandoned castle that has been taken over by a mysterious and ominous presence. Throughout the experience not only will you have to uncover the secrets behind the castle’s downfall, but you'll have to learn how to take down the hordes of creatures that look to stop your progress and keep the darkness from overpowering you by using the candle knight's flame.

Honourable Mention - Alienate! (A Trivia Game) by Friendship is Fun

Honourable Mention - The Crackpet Show by Vixa Games
