CVC Capital Partners might join iDreamSky in bid to acquire Leyou Technologies

Buyout firm CVC Capital Partners is reportedly in late-stage talks with Chinese games firm iDreamSky about snapping up Hong Kong's Leyou Technologies.

That's according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, saying that CVC wants to join iDreamSky in the deal. That company has been in talks to buy Leyou since December 2019 and has been seeking co-investors assist with the $1.4bn price tag that Leyou Tech has.

Leyou is based on Hong Kong and boasts the likes of Dirty Bomb maker Splash Damage and Digital Extremes of Warframe (pictured) fame in its roster. The firm also has a Lord of the Rings project in the works, tying into the forthcoming Amazon TV show, as well as titles based on the Civilization and Transformers IP.

In a filing on February 17th, Leyou shareholders said it was "in the course of finalising the transaction and financing documents" with iDreamSky, meaning that a deal could be close.
