Capcom reports net sales up 53.7% in Q1

Japanese publishing giant Capcom has reported ¥45.5 billion ($302.2 million) in net sales for the three months ending June 30th.

That's a 53.7 per cent increase year-on-year that was driven in large part by the company's Digital Contents – aka games – business. Capcom called out Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6. The former saw elevated sales on the back of the Netflix anime based on the Devil May Cry IP.

In total, Devil May Cry 5 has sold 10.5 million units. 1.7 million of which were shifted during the last quarter. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village has hit 12.2 million units, while Resident Evil 4 has sold 10.6 million. Street Fighter 6 has hit five million copies, helped in part by the game's launch on Nintendo Switch 2.

In total, Capcom shifted 14.16 million units during the period, up 48 per cent on last year's 9.53 million copies.

Meanwhile, operating profit shot up 90.8 per cent to hit ¥24.6 billion ($163.4 million) for the period.
