Deck 13 vet founds publisher under legacy Artex name

Veterans of the German games industry have founded a brand new indie publisher under the legacy Artex name.

The venture has been co-founded by Jan Klose, who previously helped set up Deck 13. That studio itself was an offshoot of the original Artex Software and was initially called TriggerLab. Artex Software ran from 1997 until 1999.

“Back then, we developed games under the name Artex. More than a quarter of a century later, we want to discover and support young studios and start-ups in particular, because we see an incredible amount of creative potential here”, Klose said.

"Additionally, fair conditions and supporting business development are extremely important to us when working with others. With Artex, we are starting a whole new chapter."

Artex is set to reveal its slate of indie titles next month at Gamescom but it has already committed to releasing a console version of dungeon crawler Cralon from Pithead Studio.
