Intel is making another round of layoffs

Chip giant Intel is making another round of job cuts. 

A WARN notice posted to California's EDD – spotted by CRN – shows that around 107 members of staff are losing their roles at the company's Santa Clara headquarters. Intel has confirmed that it is making cuts, saying that 15-to-20 per cent of its workforce at its chip manufacturing division. 

"As we announced earlier this year, we are taking steps to become a leaner, faster and more efficient company. Removing organizational complexity and empowering our engineers will enable us to better serve the needs of our customers and strengthen our execution,” a rep for the company said. 

“We are making these decisions based on careful consideration of what’s needed to position our business for the future, and we will treat people with care and respect as we complete this important work."

Earlier this year, Intel announced that it intended to reduce its operating costs by $500 million during the 2025 financial year and $1 billion in 2026.
