The CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, is set to appear as part of the trial of three former high-level employees at the company.
The Solidaires Informatique union has posted – as spotted by VGC – that the chief executive, as well as HR director Marie Derain, have been summoned to the proceedings against former creative director Serge Hascoët, VP of editorial services Tommy François and game director Guillaume Patrux. The trial was set to take place in March but Maude Beckers, the plaintiff's representation, said that Ubisoft only provided some information she had asked for in February 2024 just days before proceedings were meant to start.
The trial is now set to take place starting June 2nd. It is looking into allegations of sexual harassment and bullying at Ubisoft perpetrated by Hascoët, François and Patrux.
Guillemot and Derain are not accused of taking part in said behaviour, but they are there under accusations of being complicit it in taking place.
“Beyond the personal responsibility of these three executives, this trial will highlight Ubisoft’s responsibility in implementing a system aimed at keeping harassers in place while silencing their victims,” Solidaires Informatique said.
“As Beckers indicated during the March hearing: ‘This case is broader and involves many more people, both on the side of the victims and the defendants’. It is not a question of a few individual actions, but of a well-oiled mechanism of insularity, work organisation, and management that allowed this violence to continue within the company for years.”
