Development veteran Jade Raymond has left Haven Studios.
Bloomberg reports that she has departed the Montrea-based firm that she co-founded back in 2021. No reason has been given for her leaving the studio, though it does coincide with an external beta for its first project, Fairgames.
Raymond founded Haven Studios in 2021 after Google Stadia imploded earlier that year. In 2022, it was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Haven Studios is still going to continue with Marie-Eve Danis and Pierre-François Sapinski acting as its studio co-heads.
“Jade Raymond has been an incredible partner and visionary force in founding Haven Studios,” a PlayStation rep said.
“We are deeply grateful for her leadership and contributions, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.”
So far, Raymond has not commented on her departure.
Fairgames was announced in 2023 as part of PlayStation's pivot into live-service projects. This plan has not gone all too well; Concord was pulled from sale shortly after its release, resulting in a massive loss for Sony. Since, the company has cancelled two more live-service games. The TLDR is that the PlayStation giant appears to have become much, much more risk averse when it comes to these bigger projects.
