Xbox still interested in M&A opportunities

Microsoft still has an interest in further mergers and acquisitions for its games business.

That's according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who told Bloomberg that the Big M was interested in expanding its games business again.

The exec did say that there was nothing "imminent" to be announced, adding that it might not be interested in larger deals due to the firm still working to absorb Activision Blizzard staff. There's also the small matter of further antitrust action, but that isn't mentioned.

As for where Microsoft is window shopping, it appears that Asia is at the forefront of Microsoft's mind, particularly China.

"We definitely want to be in the market, and when we can find teams and technology and capability that add to what we’re trying to do in gaming at Microsoft, absolutely we will keep our heads up,” Spencer said.

He continued: “The real opportunity is to partner with creative teams in China for global.”
