Dave the Diver dev Mintrocket now its own corporation under Nexon

Mintrocket, the developer of Dave the Diver, is now a wholly-owned subsidiary corporation of Nexon.

In a release on its corporate website, the company said that being its own company would "expand" its "brand and reputation" for making innovative titles quickly. The venture sits under Nexon's Korean arm and Mintrocket's current head – Jaeho Hwang – has been nominated as the studio's first CEO.

"The new structure reflects Mintrocket's fresh approach to developing highly-engaging small-scale games for global audiences – a contrast to Nexon’s established expertise in large scale games," Nexon wrote.

Mintrocket is the developer behind Dave the Diver. The venture was announced in May 2022 as a division of Nexon. Dave the Diver went on to sell over four million copies; one million of these were within its first ten days in the wild. The last official milestone announced was three million in January.

The game was nominated for several indie title awards, though some questioned whether it qualified as being 'indie' given that it was made by an in-house developer at a massive corporation.
