Engine giant Unity has posted a 16 per cent drop in revenue for its second quarter.
The firm brought in $449 million for the three months ending June 30th, but this is still north of the high end of the $420 million-to-$425 million guidance the company gave shareholders for Q2.
Its Create Solutions arm – aka the engine part – brought in $129 million, a four per cent increase year-on-year. In this part of the business, games saw a 14 per cent increase year-on-year and made up 18 per cent of Create's revenue. Meanwhile its Grow Solutions (the marketing bit) saw a nine drop to $296 million.
Unity has managed to reduce its net loss from $193 million to $126 million year-on-year.
The company has also announced the departure of CFO Luis Visoso, who joined the company back in 2021. He is being replaced by Amazon and KPMG veteran Mark Barrysmith as interim CFO while a permanent finance chief is found.
"The focus now is on fostering a culture of execution, discipline, and accountability," CEO Matthew Bromberg wrote in his letter to shareholders.
"We plan to accelerate the pace of product innovation, strengthen the bond we have with our customers and community, and add world class talent to the team. We understand what needs to be improved, and we are making the necessary changes in our leadership, products, and processes with a sense of real urgency."
