The Rhysida hacking group has stolen 1.67 terabytes of data from Sony developer Insomniac Games.

That's according to Cyber Daily, which reports that the gang made off with over 1.3 million files from the studio. The hack took place before December 12th, the date when Rhysida posted that it had compromised Insomniac's cyber security and was selling the data it had stolen. The group was hoping to extort money from PlayStation to the tune of 50 bitcoin, worth roughly $2 million. A deadline of seven days was set, with anyone – including Sony – seemingly welcome to bid. 

Given that Sony has clearly not given into these demands, Rhysida is now publishing the information it has stolen, which broadly pertain to Insomniac's upcoming Wolverine and Spider-Man projects. The group also made off with employee information, including passport scans and internal HR communications.

Rhysida tried to sell the entire data set but initially failed, though now says that some of the data has been bought.

The group says that the data it is publishing publicly is 98 per cent of what it had stolen.
