Forza vet Hartman is new head of Xbox Game Studios

The former boss of Forza studio Turn 10, Alan Hartman, has been promoted to head of Xbox Game Studios.

The industry vet revealed the news in a post on LinkedIn, in which he expressed his excitement about his new position.

Hartman is taking over from Matt Booty, who has been promoted to president of game content and studios. This role involves heading up both Xbox Game Studios and ZeniMax.

Hartman's career in games started back in 1995, where he spent two years as an executive producer at Dreamworks Interactive. In 2001, he became studio manager at Digital Anvil before being hired by Microsoft's Turn10 studio five years later. He spent over 16-and-a-half years as studio head, before being promoted to CVP of Forza and Fable at the end of 2021.

"Thrilled to be representing such an elite set of game creators in my new role leading Xbox Game Studios," he wrote.

The recent restructuring at Microsoft's games business saw Sarah Bond promoted to Xbox president.
