NCSoft launches VARCO AI language models

Guild Wars maker NCSoft has unveiled a number of AI language models under the VARCO umbrella.

The company has launched four large language models under this branding – which apparently stands for 'Via AI, Realise your Creativity and Originality'. Three of these models are apparently intended to be used to make game development more efficient.

The four models are called Foundation, Prompt, Dialogue and Generative. So far these are all only available in NCSoft's native Korean, though the company has plans to release English and bilingual versions.

On top of this, NCSoft has launched three AI-powered services – text-to-image generator VARCO Art, VARCO Text, which – you guessed it – is a text generation platform, while VARCO Human allows users to create and manage digital humans.

“VARCO demonstrates the highest level of performance among other Korean models of similar sizes available to date," NCSoft's chief research officer Jehee Lee said.

"NCSoft will leverage VARCO to offer new original value and experiences in various domains as well as game content development.”
