Unity creates charitable Social Impact fund

Engine giant Unity has created a new Social Impact division, a new arm of the company that aims to create a "more inclusive, sustainable world."

This new part of the middleware firm has teamed up with Tides Foundation to create the Unity Charitable Fund, which will be helping make Social Impact a reality.

This new division is working to solve issues like disparity of education and economic opportunities, sustainability, as well as health and well-being. It's being funded by 750,000 shares of Unity equity, which were created when the company went public last month. At the time of writing, this is worth $68.6m.

“By coalescing social impact efforts into its own division at Unity, we’re now able to do more to have a positive impact for creators and communities around the globe,” the VP of the company's Social Impact division, Jessica Lindl, said.

“Unity has long made strides to make education and economic opportunity widely available, to ensure privacy and online safety, and to demonstrate environmental responsibility through sustainability initiatives. Unity Social Impact allows us to centralise these efforts, so we can identify new opportunities to foster a cleaner, safer, and more equitable world.”
