EGX Rezzed is the latest games event to be cancelled

EGX Rezzed 2020 has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As announced on Twitter (below), the event will no longer take place "following the escalation of COVID-19 in the UK, Europe and globally." It was scheduled to take place between July 2nd and 4th.

"After extensive discussions with all the relevant public health, local and national authorities, and with our Rezzed partners, we have taken the decision to not go ahead with this year's event," said the event's organisers.

"Our team worked incredibly hard to try and deliver an awesome event, but ultimately it's been taken out of our hands."

"We're sorry we won't get to see and play games with you at Tobacco Dock this year but are already planning for EGX Rezzed to return, better than ever, in 2021. For now, take care, stay safe and keep playing the weird, wacky and wonderful indie games that help make Rezzed what it is."

The event was postponed from March to July earlier this year. However, EGX 2020 is still set to go ahead in September. Those who had tickets for EGX Rezzed will have them upgraded to allow entry into EGX 2020.

Several events have gotten the chop this year due to the ongoing pandemic. E3 has been cancelled till next year. However, GDC will take place in the Summer after being postponed in February.

Recently, GDC's August event was confirmed to be digital-only.
