Team Fortress II voice actor Rick May passes away after contracting coronavirus

The voice of Team Fortress 2's Soldier, Rick May, has sadly passed away.

As announced by Rekindle School, May contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus at the nursing home he was recovering in after having a stroke in February. He was moved to a hospital in Sweden. However, he was unable to beat the disease.

May was a teacher at Rekindle School – an arts education programme in Seattle – from 2010 until his stroke earlier this year.

"Rick was a wonderful teacher whose classes and students meant the world to him," Rekindle said. "He’ll be deeply missed."

One of his most notable roles was as Peppy Hare in the Star Fox franchise. He also featured in Age of Empires II as the narrator and voice of Genghis Khan and was The Soldier in Team Fortress II.

Overall, May appeared in more than 300 shows across his career.
