The National Videogame museum launches a Just Giving fundraiser as it fears permanent closure

The UK's National Videogame Museum has launched a Just Giving page in an attempt to keep its doors open.

According to the fundraising page, the museum is in danger of being closed down permanently due to the coronavirus outbreak. The venue has 100 exhibits, and it hosts school workshops and family events.

"Despite 40,000 visitors in 2019, we have no safety net of funding to ensure our new charity outlasts a prolonged shutdown," reads the fundraising description.

"The UK is in danger of losing this unique venue with nearly 100 playable exhibits, school workshops and family events."

"Our forthcoming exhibitions, our programmes to train children in the most disadvantaged communities and our huge collection of videogames heritage objects could be closed for good."

The National Videogame Museum is hoping to raise $80,000 through its fundraiser. Currently, it has just under $7,500 by 180 supporters.
