Control and Death Stranding lead BAFTA Game Awards 2020 nominations

The nominations are out for the British Academy Games Awards with Remedy's Control and Death Stranding leading with nods in 11 categories.

This is the highest number that any games have landed since the award show started back in 2004. Both are nominated in the Animation, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, Music, Original Property, Technical Achievement and the Performer in a Leading Role and Supporting Role categories.

This follows Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima being named as the recipient of the BAFTA Fellowship award this year

ZA/UM's Disco Elysium has been nominated in seven categories, while Call of Duty; Modern Warfare, Life is Strange and The Outer Wilds have landed nods in five. Knights and Bikes and Untitled Goose Game are named in four categories each, while Wattam appears in three.

There are also four new categories at the show this year. Animation and Technical Achievement are on the more techy side of things, while Performer in a Leading Role and Performer in a Supporting Role speak to the more artistic side of the biz.

The full list of nominees can be found here.
