An animated series based on Blizzard’s hack-n’-slash Diablo may be in development at Netflix.

Variety reports that, in a now-deleted tweet, Boom! Studios founder Andrew Cosby was in final talks with Activision and Netflix to write and show-run a Diablo series.

“It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out,” said Cosby in the tweet.

Cosby is currently writing the reboot of “Hellboy”, which gives him at least a little experience in penning diabolic underworlds, and the blood and demons within.

A Diablo series has been rumoured for a while now. Cosby had responded to fan comments regarding the project in the past, telling the inquirer to check back in the future. But for now, Netflix has yet to issue an official announcement.

Blizzard, on its part, has multiple Diablo projects in the work - it’s possible at least one of these may not be a video game.
