Mini Metro has actually sold close to 1.4m copies

Mini Metro sales are currently in the region of 1.4 million units.

Earlier this week, we reported that Dinosaur Polo Club’s public-transport puzzler had sold over one million copies. That’s still true, but it appears Mini Metro has surpassed that sales milestone by quite a significant margin and did so quite a while ago.

We reached out to Dinosaur Polo Club for further comment on the story with studio co-owner Robert Curry clarifying the figure saying that the game actually hit the one million sales mark in July 2017. Actual sales of the game are currently between 1.3m and 1.4m, PCGamesInsider.biz can reveal.

"The reception to Mini Metro has been vital the whole way through development, right back to the initial game jam concept back in April 2013," Curry said.

"The response has always surprised us every step of the way and encouraged us to spend time making each step - game jam prototype, free web version, Steam Early Access release, desktop release, mobile release, and our impending Switch release - as good as it can possibly be.

"I'm not sure people quite understand how important that positive feedback is to developers. If you enjoy something, regardless of how small or rinky-dink it may seem, please tell the people that made it! It might be the feedback that they needed to spur them on to create more."
