Ubisoft reveals next entry in the Anno series

French publishing giant Ubisoft is going back to the Industrial Revolution for its next Anno game.

The firm announced the Ubisoft Blue Byte-developed Anno 1880 this week at Gamescom; other than its setting, little is known about the game just yet.

“This is the beginning of the industrial revolution and your path will determine the future of your world,” a post on the Anno Union site said.

“Are you an innovator or exploiter? Oppressor or liberator? You decide how the world will remember your name.

“In Anno 1800, players will take their own fate in their own hands as they navigate through the rapidly evolving and insidious political landscape of the 19th century, to build an empire on their adventure that will last the time.

“With the combination of popular features and innovative gameplay in a memorable new setting, Anno 1800 marks the beginning of a new era for the Anno series.”

The last entry in the series was the futuristic Anno 2205, which launched in 2015. 1800 is the seventh full entry in the city sim franchise.
