Crypt of the Necrodancer studio lays off staff

Developer Brace Yourself Games has made layoffs to its team.

The news was initially reported by Game Developer, which spotted a tweet from senior producer Crystal Savin in which she said she had been laid off after just four months. Savin says that half of staff are being let go.

In a statement to PC Gamer, the studio confirmed that it had had to cut some roles.

"Yesterday, senior management at Brace Yourself Games made the incredibly difficult decision to lay off a portion of the company’s staff," said a Brace Yourself Games rep.

"This decision was not made lightly, as we deeply value our talented and dedicated employees.

"As part of our commitment to our employees, we are providing severance packages and support services to assist those impacted by this decision. We are also working to address the impact on our remaining team members and to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our players."

Brace Yourself is best known for indie smash hit Crypt of the Necrodancer. The studio is currently working on a follow-up, Rift of the Necrodancer. The company opened an indie publishing label last year
