Microsoft vet Staten joins Netflix Games

Former Microsoft staffer Joseph Staten has found a new home in Netflix Games.

The industry vet shared the news on Twitter, revealing that he was joining the streaming giant as a creative director on a brand new triple-A title. Said project is going to be an original IP and be released across multiple platforms.

This comes hot on the heels of Staten departing Microsoft. This was the second of two stints that he had had at the Xbox giant, having initially joined from Bungie. During his career, he has worked on the bulk of Halo games, as well as being part of the IP's transmedia push with films and novels.

"In my work life, there's nothing I love more than collaborating with others to build worlds filled with iconic characters, deep mysteries, and endless adventures," Staten wrote.

"So today, I'm thrilled to announce that I've joined Netflix Games as Creative Director for a brand-new triple-A multiplatform game and original IP. Let's go."

Netflix has slowly been growing its games business in recent years. Initially, it has had a mobile focus but as of last November, there's been word that the streaming giant is creating a triple-A PC title which could well be the project that Staten has joined to work on.
