Substack vet Lulu Cheng Meservey joins Activision Blizzard exec team

Lulu Cheng Meservey has been hired to Activision Blizzard's executive leadership team.

She is taking on the newly-created combined role of chief communications officer and EVP for corporate affairs. That latter position used to be held by Frances Townsend, who left the company at the end of September, while the former was held by Helaine Klasky, who has moved to being a senior advisor to Activision Blizzard's CEO, Robert Kotick.

Meservey started her career as a financial analyst for JP Morgan and has since held roles at the likes of The World Bank, Trailrunner and Substack.

“Lulu is a unique talent with a brilliant strategic mind," Kotick said.

"She has an intuitive grasp of the changing communications landscape, combined with an exceptional ability to connect with diverse audiences. She shares our commitment to a company culture where creativity and excellence can thrive.”

Meservey added: "From serving on the Board, I've already worked closely with Bobby, the leadership team, and many more of the amazing people here. And the more I got to know the people and company, the more impressed I was with the commitment and integrity at every level. It's clear there's a gap between perception and reality, which is daunting but exciting. I see a big opportunity to share the true story of Activision Blizzard with our talented employees and hundreds of millions of players around the world. Plus, where else do you get to play StarCraft for work?"
