EA opens new Battlefield studio Ridgeline Games

Electronic Arts has opened a brand new game developer dedicated to its Battlefield franchise.

The venture is called Ridgeline Games and is being helmed by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. This follows him joining EA back in October 2021.

Ridgeline is going to be creating a brand new narrative title set within the Battlefield universe and is located in Kirkland, Washington.

“It is a great honour to have the opportunity to collaborate with DICE and Ripple Effect and lead the charge on expanding the narrative, storytelling and character development opportunities in the Battlefield series,” Lehto said.

Respawn founder and Battlefield franchise chief Vince Zampella added: “We’re continuing to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing in new talent and perspectives. With Marcus and his team at Ridgeline Games joining the world-class global team we have already in place, Battlefield is in the strongest position to succeed.”

This all comes in the wake of the poorly received Battlefield 2042.
