Meta Horizon VP Sharma leaves the company

The head of Meta's Horizon platform, Vivek Sharma, has departed the company.

As reported by Reuters, the division's vice president is leaving after almost six years at Meta. His staff will now be reporting to the company's vice president of metaverse, Vishal Shah.

Sharma's departure is a blow for Meta's plans for its metaverse platform, Horizon. It comes in the wake of rather shambolic press for Horizon, including poor assets that were the subject of mockery on social media. They were since updated to have a bit more life in them.

Sharma joined Facebook, as it was back then, in 2016 as head of product for its marketplace division. Two years later he was promoted to head of product for games, ahead of rising to VP for Facebook Gaming in 2019. In 2021, he became VP for Horizon.
