Avalanche to open new studio in the UK

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios is setting up shop in the UK.

The outfit is setting up an outfit in Liverpool in June, with a core team of five developers. The firm is hiring, though due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, staff will be working remotely for the time being.

The company says it wants to hire 20 more employees in the coming months with long term goals of having 50 members of staff within two years.

"I’m excited about Avalanche Studios Group becoming a part of Liverpool’s thriving game development scene and how we can contribute to it in terms of our unique games and culture," Avalanche CEO Pim Holfve (pictured) said.

"The Liverpool location will play an important role in our sustainable growth strategy to recruit over 100 people in 2020."

He continued: "Our employees health and safety' is our top priority. We are working hard to create a sustainable way for all our employees to work from home and maintain a sound work-life balance during these difficult times."

This is Avalanche's fourth studio, following its headquarters in Stockholm, the New York branch it opened in 2011 and the Malmö outfit that opened in 2018
