Former Disney Infinity exec John Vignocchi has joined Gearbox Publishing as an executive producer to work on a new "tent-pole" franchise.
Vignocchi, who acted as VP of Production on Disney’s toys-to-life platform between 2012 to 2016, announced the big news through a Tweet yesterday.

“We will be working on something that we hope will surprise and delight gamers of all ages, whether you're six or 60,” said Vignocchi, in a follow-up Tweet. “And I cannot wait to share more!”
Vignocchi was at Disney Interactive Studios for seven years, working as development director on various IPs before moving to his executive position on Disney Infinity. He previously spent eight years filling various roles at Midway Games.
Disney wrapped up support for Infinity back in 2016, shutting down developer Avalanche Software as it did so
It's not currently clear what Vignocchi will be working on at Gearbox. The developer is most famous for the successful Borderlands franchise. Its most recent attempt at a new IP, Battleborn, was not a hit and by late 2017 development on the project effectively stopped.
