The boss of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has pushed back on reports that its management is frustrated at Disney.
In a post on social media, the founder and chief exec wrote that the quote was "bullshit", adding that the two companies were working well together. This follows reporting by the Wall Street Journal, which quoted anonymous sources saying that Epic management was growing frustrated with slow decision-making over at the House of Mouse.
“The anonymous quote is BS,” Sweeney wrote.
“The speed of Disney and Epic collaborations like Darth Vader has been awesome and is around ten times the ordinary speed of media company dealings in this business. We even provided a statement to the writer of this article saying so, but they chose not to print it.”
In early 2024, Epic secured a $1.5 billion investment from Disney. The two companies said they were going to work together on a major project.
